LODGE

The luxurious 16 air-conditioned glass suites at the Forest Lodge are on stilts and appear to float between the rare Sand Forest floor and the great Torchwood trees. Floor to ceiling windows invite the forest in but the dense canopy provides privacy. The dainty forms of dwarf forest antelope dart among and below the suites, raised on stilts to float between the sandy forest floor and the leafy canopy above. Waking up to rustling forest sounds and bird song, surrounded by delicate leaf-filtered light, a pervading sense of peace and calm will set the tone for your entire day.

"One of the best experiences of our lives"

Wow! And yes, I'm not easily wowed if you've read any of my other reviews. This is a gorgeous place, a special location with interesting ecosystems, and fantastic service. The rooms are little houses, totally separate from each other out in the bush, beautifully decorated and appointed, kind of a Japanese zen style, no detail has been missed. The game drives were amazing. We learned so much about the bush and the animals. The food was definitely 5 star. Highly recommend this experience, every employee was sweet and lovely...

"Amazing safari experince"

My first African safari and after going here I wouldn't want to do a safari anywhere else. A truly memorable life moment and more than I could ever have hoped for. The lodge we stayed at was above five star and the food was great. The setup of the whole reserve is excellent and provides for an amazing experience. Our rangers Matt and Kerry were brilliant and so knowledgeable, their humour and laid back approach made the safari even more enjoyable. I must return here again as once is not enough. Thanks guys

"Seamless and luxurious service..."

I can be a bit of a stickler and micromanager regarding the type of service and experiences that I engage in while on vacation. My family and friends agree that this is not my best quality... However, I can truly say that the service (restaurant staff, rangers/trackers, etc.) at Phinda was exceptional and made me feel at ease knowing that everything that my husband and I wanted or may request was anticipated and immediately acknowledged and implemented. We loved Phinda and will definitely return when our daughter is 8 or so years old.

"Unbelievable"

The moment you drive through the sand forest area you know you are in a special place. The general dining/relaxing area is unbelievable and the service is top notch. Then you get to your rooms and your experience gets taken to the next level. The rooms make you feel like you are right in the trees due to the glass walls. Every detail has been thought through. The food was amazing, expect to put on weight as food is always available and it is truly delicious. I would highly recommend a visit to the lodge.

WILDLIFE

Having reintroduced cheetah to the area after an absence of over fifty years, &Beyond Phinda has quickly established a reputation as one of the best places to view and photograph these rare cats. With much of Phinda dominated by a mosaic of various savanna habitats, these speedy carnivores have plenty of space to carry out their explosive hunting technique, as well as enough cover to protect and shelter their cubs.

Along with cheetah, lion and leopard are tracked on the reserve on a daily basis and guests have a high likelihood of encountering these magnificent animals. Another success story at &Beyond Phinda is that of both the white and the more endangered black rhino. Brought back from the brink of extinction, both the grass easting white rhino and the shrub grazing black rhino are doing well at the reserve.
